Facts of Slide 1:

.) The actual weather related disaster risk is located at the intersection of three major components

.) Examples of each component, and overlapping attributes are shown

Facts of Slide 2:

.) Given severe weather impacts, GeoSphere Austria is providing Impact Based Weather Warnings and Forecasts utilizing all available measurement and model data ...

.) ... warnings, advice and information is given to a multitude of stakeholders and customers ...

.) ... triggering various types of response to weather related impacts

.) but even our densely populated network of automated weather stations TAWES is not able to determine all weather impacts, e.g. storm damage, flooding, mud slides, hail size, ...

.) thus, alternative reliable information about the "ground truth" is needed, i.e. eyewitness reports, human weather- and impact reports

.) consequently, a real time feedback loop between disseminated GeoSphere multi hazard warnings and ground truth reports is established

Facts of Slide 3:

.) GeoSphere Austria provides a web app for weather and impact reports and a two step training program within the framework of the TSN trusted Spotter Network Austria

.) Since 2021 about 100k reports have been issued to our database, about 80% from trained observers with higher reliability levels of the given ground truth information

.) the reports are utilized in a wide range of applications, either operationally in real time, or at a later time for scientific or evaluation / verification purposes - within GeoSphere and external collaborators, respectively

Facts of Slide 4:

.) The national GeoSphere database of weather- and impact reports forms the center of the whole architecture

.) reports can be received either from our web app wettermelden.at, or from any other platform or app by our standardized API

.) the API enables real time data exchange to all levels of collaboration, nationally and internationally

.) IMPORTANT!: all partners can thus provide reporting capabilities from their own website / app, addressing their own community, without interference by an extrinsic app, and still exchange all their reports in real time with our national data base

.) Example: SKYWARN Austria

.) Additional information, organizational issues, community support and outreach activity is operated via our outreach platform trustedspotter.eu
