St. Elmo's fire: ...is an electrical discharge, that occurs during thunderstorms. Sparks or little lightnings can be observed at sharp ends of objects.

discharge to the ionosphere: This phenomenon is often barely visible from the ground. Caused by the changing chemistry of the atmosphere with height, the lightnings have a redish oder bluish colour. These phenomena are called red sprites or blue jets.

Perlschnurblitz: Diese Blitze erscheinen als in einzelne voneinander getrennte Blitzbahnen. Dabei können die Abschnitte der Blitzbahn abhängig vom Beobachtungsstandort unterschiedlich hell leuchten.
